When "they" (whoever they are) named a quack--the sound that comes from a duck--did they name it because it actually sounds like "Quack"? What about "meow"? They clearly are named after the sounds so then how did they become actual words? The sound a baby makes when it cries is not "cry" but more like "waaah" so why wasn't that made into an actual word?
